Have you noticed the seasons are changing? Here on the Sunshine Coast, we need to pay particular attention to how the seasons impact our homes and the pests that come with these seasons. As the weather warms up, one of the questions we are consistently asked is ‘How to get rid of ants’. So, read on a little further and we will give you some tips on how you can take measures to prevent them and how to ensure effective ant control.
Spring is that time of year where ants are becoming more active. You will notice more ant trails around plants in the garden and perhaps inside your home. As they become more active they will be looking for places to set up their nests. You may see ants flying around on warm humid nights and you can be sure there is a nest close by if this is the case. When considering how to get rid of ants inside the home, it is very important to think of the treatments you are using.
Firstly, you should consider taking measures to prevent attracting them inside in the first place. Ants will come to swarm over scraps of fatty and sugary foods. So, don’t leave food scraps around the kitchen, make sure your bin is emptied daily and clean up thoroughly after outdoor barbecues. Don’t leave any open food packets in your cupboards, put them in sealed plastic containers. Make sure your outdoor garbage bins have lids that remain firmly in place and put pet food dishes in bowls of water so the ants can’t get to the food. All of these measures need to be undertaken to ensure ant control.
If all these precautions are not doing the best job, Safeguard pest Control know how to get rid of ants. Contact us today to come and assess your home.
