TERMITE TREATMENT

Safeguard Pest Control provide a professional termite treatment service. We have been helping home and business owners for over 30 years, treating thousands of residential, industrial and commerical properties

Are you aware that termites are a constant threat to your home? Termites cause more damage to Australian homes each year, more than fire, storm, and flood combined, and with no home insurance covering termites, you could be looking at a repair bill in the 10s of thousands of dollars!!!!!

Safeguard Pest Control are trained explicitly in termite inspections and termite treatment and control. The bottom line is subterranean termites can be found anywhere on the Sunshine Coast. Around your house, they are most commonly found living in wooden structures, decayed trees, and inside soil or wood.

what TERMITE TREATMENT METHOD IS MOST EFFECTIVE?

Safeguard Pest control only recommend the best termite treatment that is tailored to your property. Two categories of termite treatments are available – Liquid soil treatments and baits. Liquid soil treatments have been around for many decades.  The purpose of installing a soil treatment is to provide a long-lasting “barrier” in the soil around the structure to prevent termites from entering and causing major damage to your building. In nearly most cases, termites that have already made it into the building will die off as well, since they become inhibited by the treated zones to return to the soil for supplemental moisture. Most liquid termiticides in the early 1990s were repellent chemicals meaning the termites would only repel from the treated zones. Current products such as Termidor and Fipronil are non-repellents and allow termites to forage freely into the treated zone where they become infected and carry it back to the colony and infect others. This is also known as “The Transfer Effect”. Products such as Termidor are usually more effective in controlling infestation in the first attempt

TERMITE BAITING SYSTEMS FOR PROTECTION?

The other treatment category is termite baiting. Termite baits consist of cardboard, paper and cellulose-based food combined with a slow-reacting substance that is lethal to termites. Termite baits can be installed both in and above ground. In-ground stations are placed in soil areas, above-ground stations are installed indoors over active mud tubes. In-ground stations are placed around the structure every three meters to attract foraging termites into the stations. Once termites have been located in the bait station the application of an insect growth regulator will be applied to the area called Hexaflumyrin that destroys the termite’s exoskeleton. The termites are unable to moult their exo-skeletons for new growth and die off. This results in the elimination of their colony.

Termites cause billions of dollars every year

Termites can also be found in greater numbers in our tropical regions where living conditions for termites is optimal. Due to this, subterranean termites are the most common variety here in Queensland and can be found throughout domestic areas in abundance.

One and a half billion dollars is the estimated cost of termite damage in Australia every year . They are always searching for new food sources and if your home isn’t protected by an effective termite treatment, they will move in. Even if your home is still under construction, if not treated effectively it is possible it will suffer the same fate.

Termite awareness

Having an awareness of termite prevention is a big factor in keeping your treatment active and effective, saving you money in the future. Elimination of termite food will make your home less attractive, therefore deterring termites until your nest treatment is due
